Ease into the laid-back vibes at Surfers Paradise’s The Local Tavern.
We are located in the jewel in the crown of the Gold Coast – Surfers Paradise, one of the country’s most recognised destinations.
Surfers has been a tourist magnet since the 1920s, when Brisbane hotelier Jim Cavill purchased 10 hectares of land in the then-named Elston. The town was later re-branded Surfers Paradise, as evocative and appropriate name as you’d find for this fun-loving, sun-filled place.
The town of Surfers Paradise itself has a storied history. In 1925, hotelier Jim Cavill opened the Surfers Paradise Hotel, marking the beginning of the suburb’s transformation into a tourist destination. This hotel featured a private zoo and became a central attraction.
Today the Local Tavern is proud to be right in the heart of the buzz of Surfers. For a true Aussie pub experience, there’s nowhere that does it better than The Local Tavern.
With an array of big screens and a giant projector screen, we’re a sports hub where you can catch all the action while enjoying your favourite drink. Whether you’re here for the food, the drinks, or the game, this The Local offers the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy.
Drop in soon and say hello.
